Local business backs Alton RFC in ground-breaking deal

The 1st XV has secured an outstanding new sponsor that is a well recognised and respected brand with many existing links to the club.

Gorilla Spirits Co., the local small batch premium alcohol spirits producer based in Upton Grey, Hampshire, and Alton RFC are pleased to announce a three-year sponsorship deal for the club.

From the start of the 2019 rugby season the Alton RFC 1st team will be known as the Alton Silverbacks, a nod to what has been Gorilla Spirits’ flagship product for the past four years, Silverback Gin.

The club’s Sponsorship Secretary, Rupert Vitoria, says “we are proud to be associated with a local company who puts social responsibility at the core of its business. Our first team will also be proud to go into the new season wearing an exciting strip which features strong graphics that reflect the teams dominant playing style”.

Alton are about to go into the Hampshire Premiership as a result of winning the Hampshire 1 division last season.

Andy Daniels, the founder of Gorilla Spirits Co. adds “I’ve had a long association with Alton RFC and have watched two of my sons do much of their growing up there so I’m delighted to now be working with the club as primary sponsor of the first team”.

Gorilla Spirits Co. was a recent winner of an International CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Award which recognises the company’s commitment to conservation, the environment and the community. Andy says “although gorilla conservation lies at the heart of our CSR efforts, we look for innovative ways to work with the community too. Our tie up with Alton RFC shows how by supporting the local community we can also raise the profile of environmental issues as well as our brand. It’s a win, win, win situation”.
