As mentioned in last week's newsletter, a Rugby World Cup is being held in England next year (2025). The RFU has launched Impact '25, a transformational legacy programme that will create opportunities for women and girls to get involved in rugby as we approach the World cup. Impact '25, which has already seen £12.13m of Government funding committed to the sport in England and the home unions up to the end of March 2025, will be delivered by the RFU in partnership with UK Government, Sport England and UK Sport.
The programme will provide substantial improvements in facilities and greater opportunities for females at all levels of the game in England, with a range of support being offered to clubs across four key pillars:
Facility Development,
Coaches and Match Officials,
Playing and Volunteering, and
Community and Fan Engagement.
As a club we have aspirations to resurrect and build our rugby offering for women and girls and are in the process of applying to the RFU to be part of the facilities development pillar of impact ‘25. This will include an updating of toilet facilities, and an overall change to aspects of the clubhouse. We have received a detailed document with suggestions to what will have greatest impact and can now share with you a short survey to gather your thoughts and views.
